Your Chance to Compete at the World Food Championships Starts Here
Most people donβt realize how accessible major food competitions actually are.
Thereβs a perception that events like the World Food Championships are reserved for trained chefs, restaurant owners, or people deep into the competition circuit. You see the photos, the plated dishes, the level of detail, and it feels out of reach.
The reality is a lot different.
Every year, people from all backgrounds step onto that stage. Professional chefs, backyard cooks, first-time competitors, and yes, even someone who just enjoys cooking at home. They all compete side by side, judged on whatβs in front of them, not where they came from.
Thatβs part of what makes the World Food Championships what it is.
And this is one of the most direct ways to get there.
Introducing the Taste of Croix Valley Recipe Contest
Weβre launching the Taste of Croix Valley Recipe Contest, and the concept is intentionally simple.
Create an original recipe using at least one Croix Valley sauce or seasoning. Document what you made, take a photo of the finished dish with the product visible, and submit it.
Thatβs it.
No specific cuisine. No required skill level. No narrow category to fit into.
This is open to anyone in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and itβs designed to showcase creativity more than anything else. Whether youβre cooking in your backyard, your home kitchen, or running a food truck, the goal is the same: create something youβre proud of and put it forward.

Whatβs Actually on the Line
Three winners will be selected from the contest.
Each of those winners will receive a Golden Ticket to compete at the World Food Championships in Indianapolis this October, with their entry fee covered. Thatβs a $1,000 value on its own, but more importantly, itβs a seat at one of the most competitive food stages in the world.
From there, the path is real.
At WFC, competitors enter their chosen category. That could be anything from BBQ, burgers, and live fire, to sandwiches, bacon, chef categories, noodles, and more. Every category starts with an opening round, where competitors cook live and are judged head-to-head.
The top seven advance.
Those finalists return for a second round, and from there, category champions are crowned. Each category champion takes home $10,000 and moves on to whatβs called the Final Table, where they compete against other category winners for the title of World Food Champion.
Thatβs where the $100,000 prize comes into play.
Itβs not a giveaway. Itβs not a sweepstakes. Itβs a legitimate path through live competition, and it starts with getting in.

What People Get Wrong About WFC
Iβve been competing at the World Food Championships since its second year, and Iβve seen just about every version of competitor you can imagine.
Iβve seen Michelin-level chefs and James Beard nominees on the same stage as first-time cooks who decided to take a shot. Iβve seen backyard grillers walk in without much expectation and leave with opportunities they never would have had otherwise.
The first year of the event, the overall champion won with a slice of carrot cake.
That alone should tell you something.
This is not about titles or resumes. Itβs about execution in the moment.
Itβs a huge stage, with hundreds of competitors from over 30 countries, all cooking live, all under the same clock, all judged the same way. Itβs intense, itβs competitive, and itβs one of the most rewarding environments you can step into as a cook.

Who This Is For
This contest is intentionally wide open.
If you like to cook, you can enter.
That includes:
- Home cooks
- Backyard BBQ enthusiasts
- Competitive teams
- Culinary students
- Food truck operators
- Chefs and restaurant professionals
Thereβs no barrier to entry beyond creating something original and putting it forward. Iβve always believed in getting new people into the space, and Iβve spent a lot of time helping first-time competitors find their footing at events like this.
Everyone starts somewhere, and for a lot of people, this is exactly where that start happens.

How to Enter
The entry window runs from June 23 through July 6.
To enter:
- Create an original recipe using at least one Croix Valley product
- Prepare and document the dish
- Take a photo with the product visible
- Submit your entry
Winners will be announced on July 13, and those selected will have the opportunity to register for an open category at the World Food Championships.

A Real Shot at Something Bigger
There arenβt many opportunities where someone can go from cooking at home to competing on a world stage in a matter of months.
This is one of them.
And while not everyone who enters will end up at the Final Table, the path exists. Someone will walk away with $100,000. Someone will build connections, gain experience, and open doors that werenβt there before.
It might as well be you.
