BBQ Gyro Sandwich - Brisket and Pulled Pork

A BBQ Gyro Sandwich is the easiest, most delicious way to use up leftover BBQ Meats in a snap.  Nestled between a soft, grilled Pita flatbread, any leftover BBQ meats can be transformed into a delicious Gyro with the addition of seasonings, homemade Tzatziki sauce, and fresh toppings such as lettuce, tomato, onion and Feta cheese!

We'll show you the Gyro from Pulled Pork and Brisket, but don't stop there!  This recipe is perfect for chicken, shredded beef, lamb, goat, and just about any meat you've got sitting in the fridge!

BBQ Gyro Sandwich - Brisket and Pulled Pork

Ingredients

    • Leftover BBQ Meat, heated and grilled

    • Croix Valley Greek Barbecue Booster

    • Shredded Lettuce

    • Provolone Cheese (optional)

    • Diced Tomatoes

    • Sliced Red Onion

    • Crumbled Feta Cheese

    • Flatbread Pitas

    • Tzatziki Sauce (recipe below)

    • 1 Cup plain Greek Yogurt

    • 2 Tbsp Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice

    • ½ Tsp. Minced Garlic

    • 2 Tbsp Fresh Dill weed, diced

    • 1 tsp. Croix Valley Garlic Booster

    • ½ cup cucumber, diced FINE

    Directions

      1. Finely dice cucumber and express excess liquid by using a strainer or cheesecloth.

      2. Combine remaining ingredients with cucumber and refrigerate until ready for use.

      1. Heat Leftover meats on griddle and season with Greek Booster to taste.

      2. Toast Pita bread on griddle, adding Provolone cheese if desired. Cook until lightly toasted and cheese is melted.

      3. Assemble Pita by spreading on Tzatziki, then topping with meat, lettuce, tomato and onion (olives too, if desired).
