Apple Bacon Crepes with Candied Walnuts

Crepes can be a sweet or savory dish, filled with a multitude of ingredients, from meats and cheeses to vegetables and dessert toppings. This recipe for Apple Bacon Crepes with Candied Walnuts bridges the gap between the sweet of the apples and candied walnuts and the savory of the salty and smoky bacon.Β  An ideal Brunch dish, these crepes can be made as a side for a meal or stand alone to fill up the hungriest of eaters.

    Ingredients

    • 1 cup Flour
    • 4 Eggs
    • 1 Β½ cup Milk
    • 3 Tbsp. Melted Butter
    • 1 Tbsp. White Sugar
    • ΒΌ tsp. Salt
    • 3 Fuji Apples (peeled, cored, & sliced)
    • 6 Slices of Bacon (cooked & chopped)
    • 1 Tbsp. Butter
    • Β½ tsp. Cinnamon
    • 2 Tbsp. White Sugar
    • 1 cup chopped Walnuts
    • 1 Tbsp. Butter
    • ΒΌ tsp. Cinnamon
    • 1 Tbsp. White Sugar
    • 1 cup Whipped Cream Cheese
    • Β½ cup HoneyΒ 
    • 1 Tbsp. Cinnamon
    • 1 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk

    Directions

    1. Whisk liquid ingredients for Crepe Batter until well blended. Slowly whisk in flour.
    2. Heat a lightly oiled frying pan over medium high grill. Pour batter into pan, approximately ΒΌ cup for each crepe. Tilt the pan with a circular motion so the batter coats the pan evenly.
    3. Cook crepe for approximately 2 minutes, until the bottom is light brown. Loosen with a spatula, flip over and cook the other side.
    4. Melt the butter in the pan, add the apples and cinnamon, cook down until apples are soft and add the sugar.
    5. When the sugar has fully dissolved, reserve a few slices of apple to top each crepe, set aside, then add the bacon. Once the bacon has heated fully remove from heat.
    6. Add all walnut ingredients to pan. Cook until walnuts have caramelized and remove from heat.
    7. Blend all ingredients well.
    8. Spread Cheese Filling on crepe.
    9. Top with Apple Filling.
    10. Wrap tightly (do not overfill).
    11. Top with sliced apples and walnuts. (To prevent browning of apples, you can soak in diluted lemon juice.)
    12. Drizzle with sweetened condensed milk.
